Away for a couple of days

I've made some great progress on getting the new clipping code working with the PSP's VFPU. Actually, so far I've just been working on getting various matrix/vector routines and the transform and lighting (TnL) code working with the VFPU and I'm seeing very good results so far. The TnL code is around 2-3 times as fast running through the VFPU compared to the CPU. This gives around a 0.5-1.0fps speedup in the various roms I've been testing.

Unfortunately I have to put the clipping work on hold until the end of the week as I'm heading home for a few days to see my family. In the meantime, I've answered a few of your comments about clipping on the previous post.

Also, here are a few amusing 'outtakes' as I was trying to get the VFPU TnL code working:

Hmm, something wrong with the indexing I think

Something is definitely wrong with the transform matrix (or else Lakitu is drunk :)

M.C. Escher would be proud

Whoops.

That Super Mario 64 logo actually looks pretty cool.

Thanks for the update StrmnNrmn, please try to fix the Mario Kart problem for R8. I see what is happening now since you explained that, it's wierd it started happening now but please try to find a solution. Also with this new clipping I can see the super mario logo (top pic)looks alot more clean and shiny. The graphics do look like they improved alot, but for example in Mario Kart do the graphics look better in that? Like you know how the drivers look like they're a little sprite just moving along the road, and you can see the drawling outline on them. Lastly did any of these optimizations effect Diddy Kong Racing from getting rid of all the purple? Well thanks StrmnNrmn in advance and I really do appreciate your work alot, keep it up and your going to have something reallly special here.

ps. That problem with Dynarec ON and you not being able to get past the title screen in Super Smash Brothers is still there, could you look into that for R8 possibly?

Guys I'm not nagging I never ask StrmnNrmn questions, so I told him all of my thoughts so that when in his spare time he could answer them. Why would you guys get on my case I try to do good for this blog and for the emulator. I mean I try to help anyone here and stuff like that, give me a break.

Guys I'm just telling StrmnNrmn what I would like fixed yes. I'm just telling him this so he knows that I and most likely more people would like to see imporovements in Mario Kart. When people here have questions I try to answer them, and if anyone has a problem I'll try my best to help them. Wow I'm requesting something now stop being dickheads and stop this stupid arguement, I'm sure StrmnNrmn doesn't want to read this. I don't know why people hd to respond to what I said because it was directed to StrmnNrmn, not anyone else.

If he can take care of what I requested great if he doesn't he doesn't. I understand what kind of work StrmnNrmn has piled in front of him, I'm just throwing suggestions. I see lots of people here actually nag and crap but when I ask him a request you all jump on my back. Give me a break and mind your own business.

Please everyone just drop it it's a waste of time to talk about, just space StrmnNrmn has to read. I feel bad he even has to read this message right here. Now when StrmnNrmn said he'll be gone that is until Friday (end of week) or is he including the weekEND? He said "a couple of days" so I assume he's talking about until Friday.

Just to add Wally if you turn Dynarec OFF you can go very far into gameplay in Mario Party 1. I know about compatability list thanks.

Oh okay I didn't see that part, well that's good though it makes for less work. I know I'm being nosey for this but Wally would you be in any position to share the "critical information" to us?

Morgan said...

Okay, well thanks for that Wally, I hope whatever the specifics are about it help StrmnNrmn.

Question Wally is Super Mario 64 a 30FPS game because I noticed in some parts like the menus it goes over 30FPS. Now I never thought I'd say this but if it does go over should we have a speed limit setting maybe to keep the roms from over performing in those areas. I mean because eventually when StrmnNrmn makes the speed increases in later versions won't the menus just keep speeding up?
