Revamped UI Sneak Peek

Here's a sneak peek of the revamped UI I've been working on:

[Edit - 9:22 AM] Please don't read anything into the list of titles shown in the screenshot above! I haven't been working on compatibility in R9 (with the exception of a few PIF fixes), so it's unlikely that anything which was broken in R8 is now working. Once R9 is released I'll hold a straw poll to see if you want me to focus on compatibility in R10, and if so, which titles.

  14. roy chang: The font is actually the lower case letters from Bit-low, and the caps from Emulator :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. matt: You're right, it should be 'ROMs', but ALL CAPS just looks a bit ugly :)

  17. So by "PIF Fixes" Does this meen FlashRAM has been fixed? That seemed to be what you were describing in the PIF Fixes Post.

Does that meen they're in? Nice :D

Nice GUI, looks really user friendly! Rgis is turning out to be just as good (if not better) then the PC version of Daedalus!

  18. Norman, here are the top games on th Nintendo 64, that would be nice to have on Daedalus:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    Super Mario 64
    Diddy Kong Racing
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
    Super Smash Bros.
    Paper Mario
    GoldenEye 007
    Donkey Kong 64

    Mario Kart 64
    Perfect Dark
    Banjo-Kazooie
    Banjo-Tooie

    Conker's Bad Fur Day
    Star Fox 64
    Mortal Kombat Trilogy

The ones in bold are the ones most people (that I know of) are leaning toward. I am just trying to help, not spam, if that is was you consider it.

    Thanks,

    47

  19. Matter of fact, click here.

Look for the games with the highest score on them. I am definatley leaning toward a Yoshi's Story game, or Banjo Kazooie/Banjo Tooie. That's all the games I would ever want.

  20. Very sweet UI! R8 is cool enough. An update is amazing news. I dont care how long it takes you, performance is really all I care about. Thanks for sharing. If it were me, I'd keep it all to myself [evil laugh]

  21. Probably the ONLY thing you DO need to work on is compability, i dont even get how the frig you can make a new release without adding compability?! its about the games not how your emulator looks :(

    ReplyDelete
  22. Awesome work! As for the "ROMs" and "Roms" thing, I think "ROMs" looks better than "Roms" personally. In terms of compatibility though. The games that I want most would be StarFox64, Super Smash Bros. and StarCraft64. Keep up the great work StrmnNrmn, I look forward to more releases. :)

  23. Xion: Sorry, the PIF work has nothing to do with getting flashram working. The PIF is mainly responsible for reading the controllers, eeprom, mempaks and rumblepak.

    nick: That's a good plan. Gamerankings.com lists:

    1. GoldenEye 007
    2. Super Mario 64
    3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    4. Perfect Dark
    5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
    6. Banjo-Tooie
    7. Paper Mario
    8. Conker's Bad Fur Day
    9. Banjo-Kazooie
    10. Star Fox 64

pascal: That's a valid point, but I see 3 problems that need solving: speed, compatibility, A/V (i.e. graphics and audio).

What's the point in having 100% compatibility if everything runs at 2fps with no graphics?

What I've been trying to do is focus on each of these areas in turn.

Admittedly the front-end UI is a bit of a distraction from these goals though :)

Thanks for your feedback in any case :)

  25. Nice, I can't wait for this!!!
Is their anyway you can release R9 by this weekend!!!

Oh yeah, for R10 could fix the graphic glitches in "RUSH" (all of them)

    Thanks!

  26. @StrmnNrmn

I have been busy myself as well. I am just glad that you are doing good and enjoying yourself. We're all looking forward to your next release :)

  27. i think that speed is more impotant then anything,as its no fun playing a bunch of games really slow,i think as soon as the emu is running games at a good speed, then compatibility and the audio and visuals.
